Julebyen 2017

Dec. 2 & 3
Knife River, Minnesota

OUTDOOR MARKET

Shop for unique gifts at the Julebyen Market. Colorful booths with Scandinavian themes host vendors with an assortment of locally-made wares.

The outdoor marketplace has expanded to 17 brightly colored huts where people can shop for handmade gifts and decorations and Nordic ethnic foods, all offered by vendors selected through a juried process. Festivalgoers stroll the marketplace in the company of carolers and characters from Norwegian and Swedish mythology.

See the sections below for descriptions of many of the Julebyen vendors.

Daniel Paulson

Glass and Ceramic Art

Daniel Paulson’s work is inspired by nature and the use of natural elements. By incorporating local indigenous clay and natural wood ash he develops high fire cone 10 glazes for use in wood firing ceramics. The rivers, streams, lakes, and marshes are great resources for inspiration, and provide unique materials that associate a sense of place that becomes connected with the artwork. Some of the local areas which Daniel acquires his clays include Stony Point on Lake Superior, and the St. Louis River. Daniel currently lives and works from his studio in Two Harbors, MN.
